In-person Events and Gatherings (Fall 2020)

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and with recent guidance from the State of California Department of Public Health regarding Institutions of Higher Education, all students and student organizations (including fraternities and sororities) are prohibited from hosting, organizing, or endorsing any in-person meetings, events, or activities. Additionally, this guidance includes and applies to all chapter housing facilities.

Any alleged violations of compliance with this guidance from the State of California and the California State University may result in an organizational review by the Office of Student Conduct, and notification may be provided to national/regional staff.

As fraternal members, the values of brotherhood, sisterhood, and community are paramount. We ask that all members exemplify this value and do their part to keep our campus and larger community safe by adhering to this guidance.

Additionally, the University will be assisting the fraternal community during this time by: migrating the recruitment and intake processes to a virtual or digital space, communicating and collaborating with the housing corporations that own and maintain chapter house facilities, and providing education to fraternal members about health and safety practices as well as online resources for conducting virtual meetings, activities, and events.

We know that many of the traditions and celebrations that we enjoy have been cancelled, postponed, or reframed but by working together, we are confident that we will be able to convene again soon. We look forward to that time.
