Student Information

Students requesting Sign Language interpreters must submit their course schedules to their Disability Management Specialist and the Lead Interpreter prior to the date services are requested to ensure accommodations are confirmed by the first classroom session.

Sign Language Interpreters will be provided for academically-related functions. SSD must have the request with at least five (5) days advance notice to the date of the event or activity. Services may also be provided for other campus activities and events, but need to be requested through the SSD office or by the campus group responsible for hosting the event.

Unless SSD is notified of cancellation/changes 24 hours in advance of the date of the event, the campus group will still be charged as a completed assignment.

Student absences are to be reported at least 24 hours before class or the event to the Lead Interpreter and Student Support Assistant as well as the assigned Sign Language Interpreter. Unexpected absences should be reported as soon as possible.
