Student Health and Counseling Center

Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis

Now Offering Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP)

The Student Health and Counseling Center (SHCC) is pleased to announce that we are now offering Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) treatment for HIV.

PrEP involves a once-daily dose of medication called Truvada along with regular visits with a healthcare provider for repeated testing for HIV, other sexually transmitted infections and medication monitoring. While office visits for PrEP services are covered under the student health fee, students must fill the prescriptions outside of the SHCC Pharmacy. Most insurance plans now cover Truvada prescriptions. Students who do not have insurance coverage may be able to obtain assistance through Truvada's patient assistance program.

More information about PrEP treatment, including information on who should take PrEP can be found here.

Students can schedule an appointment for PrEP treatment by calling 559.278.2734.
