Report 2017 San Joaquin Valley Public Opinion Survey

The Institute's regional survey reveals some similarities with statewide surveys but also important regional differences. 

2017 Survey - Results on Obamacare (Affordable Care Act)

According to a new survey of the San Joaquin Valley conducted by the Institute for Leadership and Public Policy, nearly a majority of adults in the region oppose the repeal of the Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare").

The findings in the report are based on a random sample of adults from the San Joaquin Valley.

2017 Survey - Results on Deportations

According to the spring 2017 survey of the San Joaquin Valley, nearly a majority of respondents (46 percent) worry that they or someone they know could be deported. Minority groups were more likely to report being concerned about deportations. The survey results also show that a large majority of adults across the San Joaquin Valley (63 percent) believe that increasing deportations will be bad for the region's economy.

The findings in the report are based on a random sample of adults from the San Joaquin Valley.

2017 Survey - Results on Water

According to a new survey of the San Joaquin Valley conducted by the Institute for Leadership and Public Policy at Fresno State, 1 in 5 adults, or 21 percent, said that access to clean drinking water is a problem. The survey results also show that many in the Valley are concerned about having an adequate water supply in the future. 

The findings in the report are based on a random sample of adults from the San Joaquin Valley.

2017 Survey - Results on High-Speed Rail

According to a new survey of the San Joaquin Valley conducted by the Institute for Leadership and Public Policy at Fresno State, a majority of respondents (58 percent) support the construction of the high-speed rail project. When asked about how they would use the high-speed rail if it was completed, 66 percent of respondents in the San Joaquin Valley said they would use it for business, pleasure, or both. 

The findings in the report are based on a random sample of adults from the San Joaquin Valley.
