Biographical Sketch

Dr. Tinneke Van Camp is an Associate Professor in the Department of Criminology at California State University, Fresno where she teaches Victimology and Comparative Systems of Criminal Justice. Prior to joining the CSU, Fresno Criminology Department in 2016, she had been teaching at the School of Law at the University of Sheffield, UK. Tinneke has a Master’s degree in Criminology from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium and earned a Ph.D. in Criminology from the Université de Montréal, Canada. Her research interests include, but are not limited to, consequences of victimization, restorative justice and procedural justice. She has conducted research on these topics at the National Institute for Criminalistics and Criminology, Belgium and was granted and completed a Marie Curie post-doctoral fellowship from the European Commission to explore crime victims’ reasons for participation in restorative justice interventions. She was also actively involved as a post-doctoral research fellow in a project concerning teen dating violence at the Department of Sexology at the Université du Québec à Montréal. Tinneke is the author of the book Victims of Violence and Restorative Practices: Finding a Voice, published by Routledge in 2014. Her publications also include a chapter on victim impact statements and restorative practices in Justice for Victims: Perspectives on rights, transition and reconciliation (eds: Vanfraechem, Pemberton & Ndahinda, 2014, Routledge) and contributions in multiple peer-reviewed criminology journals, such as the International Review of Victimology (e.g., http://irv.sagepub.com/content/19/2/117.abstract) and the Canadian Journal for Criminology and Criminal Justice (e.g., http://www.utpjournals.press/doi/abs/10.3138/cjccj.2015.E03). She is the book review editor for the International Review of Victimology and Co-Editor in Chief of the book series ‘Studies in Restorative Justice’ by Eleven International Publishing.
