Registering for Fall 2020 Courses: April 20-24

Posted on April 14, 2020

Dear Students,

We hope you enjoyed last week’s break from classwork and have returned to your studies this week with a renewed focus and ready to finish strong. It’s hard to believe we are in the final stretch, with only about three weeks to go until the end of instruction this semester. Even more surprising, perhaps, is that we are already setting our sights on the fall 2020 semester.

Per notifications you have received from the Office of the University Registrar and your academic adviser, registration for fall classes begins next week, April 20-24. The fact that you have made it this far on your educational journey means you are determined to succeed. Our University remains invested in your success, and we encourage you to tap into your inspiration and perseverance now more than ever. We realize these can be challenging times, yet we know you and so many of our committed students have overcome challenges throughout your lives. Keep your goals in front of you and never lose sight of your dreams. Together, we will overcome.

To facilitate your ability to register this fall, the University decided recently to allow you to register for classes even if you have a hold for a balance on your account. As such, we encourage you to register for fall 2020 courses during the April 20-24 registration window.

Undoubtedly, you may be wondering what the fall semester may look like in terms of whether courses will be delivered in person or virtually. As of today, we are planning for students, faculty and staff to return to campus for the fall semester. However, because the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, we will make a final determination about the fall semester in the coming weeks. We will notify you as soon as a final decision is made, in close consultation with the California State University Chancellor’s Office and our 22 sister campuses.

Despite the uncertainty, Fresno State faculty, administrators and staff remain committed to supporting your educational goals, including completion of a degree. Whether you attend classes in person or virtually in the fall, you will continue receiving instruction from dedicated Fresno State faculty, and, with your continued effort, the grades you earn will ultimately lead to a Fresno State degree. The services that ensure your academic success, from tutoring and advising, to financial aid and counseling, will continue, as well.

Our region and communities will need your leadership and expertise more than ever in the coming years. By completing your degree, you will be empowered to contribute to our collective success and lift up future generations. As President Castro says often, be bold in your choice to continue pursuing your goals and dreams.

If you have any registration questions, please call the Student Services Center at 559.278.4743 during normal business hours. The Office of the University Registrar is also serving students by email at fsregistrar@mail.fresnostate.edu and with a new live chat feature. Visit their website for more information.

Sincerely,

Saúl Jiménez-Sandoval, Ph.D., Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
