Master of Science in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling

Prospective Students

The Master of Science in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling program is designed for students who wish to become culturally competent counselors who assist individuals to fullfil personal goals and enjoy positive wellbeing. 

This program offers opportunities for students to develop excellent counseling skills, understand the value of advocacy and support clients' healing journey. The program currenlty offers two concentrations: Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Learn more about the profession.

Take the Next Step for Your Career

The program is structured into six (6) semesters and requires a total of 60 units. Students have the ability to obtain the Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with both concentrations. Student can also pursue the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor credentials with the Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling concentration. In addition, students can consider other specializations such as the Pupil Personnel Specialist or the Certificate of Advanced Study in Research Methods while in the program.   • Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC): An LPCC focuses exclusively on the application of counseling interventions and psychotherapeutic techniques for the purposes of improving mental health.
  • Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC): Obtaining a CRC represents an advanced level of specialized, graduate education and training. Rehabilitation counselors who have earned the CRC designation possess a marketable and valuable credential that distinguishes them from other counseling professionals.
  • Pupil Personnel Specialist (PPS): The PPS credential is required for employment as a counselor in elementary, middle/intermediate, and secondary public schools in California.
  • Certificate of Advanced Study in Research Methods: This Fresno State certificate program prepares students to design surveys and interview protocols, to analyze quantitative and qualitative data and to communicate research results.
