Virginia Rondero Hernandez, Ph.D., L.C.S.W.
Virginia Rondero Hernandez is an Associate Professor in the Department of Social Work Education at California State University, Fresno and a Faculty Researcher/Evaluator for the SWERT. She has taught at the university level for 15 years and her social work career includes service in clinic, hospital, school and community-based settings.
Dr. Rondero Hernandez currently provides leadership and oversight of research and program evaluation activities at the SWERT in the following capacities:
- Principal Investigator, Methamphetamine Recovery Project, California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley
- Principal Investigator, Children’s Mental Health Transition Evaluation for the Fresno County Department of Children and Family Services
- Faculty Evaluator, The Wraparound Fidelity Index Evaluation Project for FamiliesFirst, Fresno
- Faculty Evaluator, Claims Integrity Unit Program Evaluation Project
Dr. Rondero Hernandez is also a fellow with the Central Valley Health Policy Institute at California State University, Fresno. Her studies focus on mental health service delivery to unserved and underserved Latino populations in the San Joaquin Valley.
Dr. Rondero Hernandez earned her M.S.W. from California State University, Sacramento and her Ph.D. from the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences at Case Western Reserve University. Her dissertation topic was on the co-occurrence of delinquency and substance abuse among juveniles on probation. Her research interests include child welfare, children’s health, developmental disabilities, health disparities, juvenile justice, mental health and substance abuse.
