LCSW Licensure

Following the successful completion of a Master in Social Work degree, graduates of our program may choose to pursue to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). In California, this process is guided by the requirements outlined by the Board of Behavioral Sciences. The Board of Behavioral Sciences has comprehensive information on their website that outlines the requirements and the process for Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW) and Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) for in-state and out-of-state applications. The licensing requirements differ by state.

While the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) lists Fresno State with "No Additional Courses Required," potential licensees are responsible for the pre-licensure content. Some of these additional coursework requirements are offered through core social work courses or through electives.
