REFLECTIONS FROM THE PRESIDENT

December 10-16, 2012

The last week of classes in the fall is always hectic as everyone seeks to complete work, assignments, and prepare for finals. Of course, the holiday parties add another dimension to the numerous activities. I have enjoyed the opportunity to visit with members of our University community this week. We are so fortunate to have outstanding people in our community.

The horrific news of the Newtown, Connecticut tragedy touched everyone on Friday. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those who were involved in this devastating event.

I was saddened to learn of the passing of Joe Heuston our long time Financial Aid director until 2001.

It was great to hear that the Lindsay School District received one of the 16 Race-to-the-Top awards. Our Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership and CVELI are working with this district. Another example of the resources we add to the Central Valley.
