California State University, Fresno Department of Biology and Tri-Beta Biology Club presents

“Therapeutic Manipulation of Central T cell Tolerance”
By Dr. Maria Mouchess, Genentech

Friday, March 18, 2015, 3:00 PM in Science II Room 109

Maria attended UCLA as a Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology major. She was accepted in 2005 to the Molecular and Cell Biology Ph.D. program at UC Berkeley. At Cal, she studied Immunology in Greg Barton’s lab and how self DNA recognition is avoided by immune cells. After receiving her Ph.D. in 2011, she began a postdoctoral fellowship at UCSF with Mark Anderson studying how T cells are educated in the thymus, which is what she will be sharing with us during the seminar. Currently, she is a Senior Scientific Researcher at Genentech in the Discovery Immunology department where she works to find novel targets for autoimmune diseases.
