Health risks to farmworkers increase as workforce ages

Field laborers often delay healthcare, and that can lead to serious medical problems. Compared to older whites, older Latino farmworkers are much more likely to end up in the hospital, according to researchers at the Central Valley Health Policy Institute at Cal State Fresno.

Valley economic index shows advances in November

“This is the 15th straight month that the overall index has moved above growth neutral,” said Dr. Ernie Goss, research faculty with the Craig School of Business at California State University, Fresno. “For a second consecutive month, the survey tracked weakness among non-durable goods producers, including food processors, in the region. However, gains for durable goods manufacturers more than offset this weakness.”
