A chef and judge on Food Network shows like Iron Chef America and Cutthroat Kitchen, Simon Majumdar turned his blunt brand of criticism plus glowing praise on Fresno this week. First, the good news: The agnolotti pasta made with Fresno State corn at The Annex Kitchen was the best dish he ate in the United States last year.

Derek Carr, Raiders agree to 5-year, $125 million extension (Friday,06/23/2017 © San Francisco Chronicle) Derek Carr said he wanted to be a Raider for life, and took a huge step in that direction Thursday morning by agreeing to the richest contract in NFL history. The quarterback will make an average of $25 million a season after he and the Raiders agreed to a five-year contract extension for $125 million, league sources said...The former second-round pick out of Fresno State has come a long way since an 0-10 start to his rookie season, when he averaged 5.5 yards per attempt.

Derek Carr, Raiders nearing record contract extension, report says

The expected contract extension for Raiders quarterback Derek Carr could be coming sooner rather than later. Carr, ESPNs Adam Schefter reported Wednesday, is close to finalizing a multi-year agreement that could pay him an average of $25 million per season. Should the deal reach the $25 million threshold, the fourth-year quarterback out of Fresno State would become the NFLs highest paid quarterback in terms of yearly average salary.

Carr was selected by the Raiders in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He played college football at Fresno State University, the same school where his brother, David, attended.

Raiders' quarterback Derek Carr just got a whole lot richer. Oakland signed their man to a five-year, $125 million extension that will make the Fresno State QB the highest-paid NFL player in history. Carr, 26, will make $25 million a year.

A Selma-area resident is aiming to improve the quality of life for people in the Valley and across the state. Matt Rogers, who lives on his family farm on the outskirts of Selma, serves as the Central Valley district director for California Senator Kamala Harris Office. Rogers, who was hired to the position earlier this year, runs the Fresno division...He then went on to attend California State University, Fresno, where he graduated in 2004 with a bachelors degree in political science.
