New report names Fresno among best places to live if you're a teacher

FYI -Her team has been traveling across the country to tap perspective teachers, and has put ads in newspapers near Los Angeles and San Diego â€" cities that were recently hit by teacher layoffs. She has been hosting job fairs for prospective teachers, and will have a booth at the Vintage Days festival this weekend at Fresno State to get the word out about the continued need to fill classrooms.

At Grandpa's Popcorn & Sweets, you get a delicious dose of sweet, savory and spicy. The namesake of the shop is Fred Campbell or "grandpa" his grandson, Daniel, calls him. The shop pays homage to Fresno State and the United States Armed Forces. Daniel said Fred served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Discounts are given to men and women in the military, police force, fire service and emergency medical service.

Castro shows spine in Twitter controversy

Fresno State President Joseph Castro courageously recognized the safety concerns manifested by Mr. Maischak's tweet and contacted the FBI, Homeland Security and the Secret Service. Castro demonstrated a spine that few college administrators have exhibited over the past 40 years.

Academic turf wars block access as California faces college gap

Assembly Bill 405, introduced by Assemblywoman Jacqui Irwin, D-Thousand Oaks, would allow some community colleges to award four-degrees in cybersecurity. Assembly Bill 207 , carried by Assemblyman (and physician) Juan Arambula, D-Fresno, would authorize Fresno State University to create a medical school. California’s higher education master plan should not be engraved in stone. It made sense when it was enacted but doesn’t make much sense more than a half-century later.
