Henderson, who coordinates the volunteer effort, said staff was aware of a hunger problem and “had been picking at the issue” for several years before deciding to open the pantry. He credits Fresno State for offering advice and guidance on getting started. Fresno State offers food and hygiene supplies five days per week at its Student Cupboard.

Chris Stapleton's All-American Road Show tour slated for Fresno's Save Mart Center

Fresno's Save Mart Center will get another dose of country music this summer â€" this time from singer Chris Stapleton. According to Rolling Stone (and also this awesome digital tour flier), Stapleton will be in at the arena June 1 on his just announced All-American Road Show tour. There's been no official announcement from the arena and no word on ticket prices, but Stapleton's fanclub site says tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Friday, March 10.

Medi-Cal leader not speculating on repeal of the Affordable Care Act

Diana Dooley doesn't like to speculate about a repeal, replacement or repair of the Affordable Care Act, but the secretary of California's Health and Human Services Agency knows changes are coming. She's just not sure when Obamacare, as the Affordable Care Act is widely known, will be cut or modified. "My message now is that we have a law and we're operating under that law, " she said Thursday shortly after speaking to students at the Pay It Forward Luncheon Series at Fresno State.

Civil rights pioneer James Lawson Jr. will give a speech on nonviolence tactics at Fresno State on Thursday. Described once by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as the leading theorist and strategist of nonviolence in the world,†Lawson will present a speech entitled Nonviolence Then and Now in the North Gym, Room 118, from 6-7:30 p.m.

Fresno State's Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship launched its Pay it Forward Luncheon Series on Thursday afternoon with a keynote speech from California Health and Human Services Secretary Diana Dooley. Pay it Forward keynote speakers covers topics about getting hired after college and becoming a leader in a corporate setting.
