Fresno State Wine Honors Poet Laureate

The Fresno State Winery and the College of Arts and Humanities will release a limited edition special wine blend to honor Philip Levine, who was the Library of Congress' 18th Poet Laureate and as an emeritus professor of English who taught at Fresno State for 34 years.

Michael Gorman, Fresno State librarian emeritus, will be among the 10 inaugural inductees to the California Library Hall of Fame scheduled for the California Library Association conference Nov. 2-4 in San Jose. Mr. Gorman joined the Fresno State faculty in 1988 and retired in 2007. As the leader of the campus? Henry Madden Library, he expanded its use by the community as a research resource and also as a meeting place.

Teens arrested for string of Fresno State robberies

Fresno Police say a 16-year-old boy and 18-year-old are suspected of as many as 7 armed robberies Thursday night. Police say the teens took purses, wallets and cell phones at gunpoint. The first robbery happened on Shaw and Rowell in Northeast Fresno. Police say at least three of the thefts happened on the Fresno State campus. Fresno Police are working with Fresno State Police to find the stolen item's owners.
