New survey ranks 9 Calif. universities best in nation

Two state universities also received recognition. Cal State Fresno and San Diego State University were recognized in the best bang for the buck category. Both were singled for the high graduation rate among ethnic minorities. US News & World report told ABC7 News its survey measures academic quality which it considers a key factor in choosing a university.

Avoiding the ''Freshman 15''

Fresno State is trying educate freshman students about healthy food choices to avoid the Fresno 15. The student health center, along with dietitians, are trying to inform students on making healthier decisions. Dietitians are going out on campus, meeting students and answering any questions. They've also launched a weight loss challenge and all the menus now have the calories next to each item to help students make better food choices.

Fresno State waits on football ticket sale push

As of Monday, Fresno State had sold 21,000 tickets for Saturday's opener against Weber State, but officials are expecting a big push this week."The thing that we've always seen at Fresno State is that we'll sell somewhere between 6,000 to 7,000 tickets on game week," associate athletic director Paul Ladwig said.

On Aug. 13, animal control officers got a call from Fresno State police that a dog was in traffic. Rogue was picked up and taken to the CCSPCA. He was thin but healthy.
