Griefland: an intimate portrait of love, loss, and unlikely friendship"

Armen Bacon is a wife, mother, professional woman, and author. A passion for people, travel, and writing—these are the things that run through her veins. She is a storyteller. A memory keeper. A writer of docu-memories for the soul and the human condition, “connective tissue that makes us all more human,” she says. Armen holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from California State University, Fresno, and a master’s degree in organizational management. She is a four-year artisan alum from the CSU Summer Arts Program where she studied memoir, poetic prose, narrative nonfiction, and flash fiction. She resides in Fresno, California, with her husband, Dan, and draws inspiration from family, friends and her five grandchildren. Her collection of Fresno Bee columns is slated for publication soon, titled, "My Name Is Armen, A Life in Column Inches." Write Armen at

Nancy Miller is a wife and mother, composition instructor and writer. She has mentored students at the university and junior college levels for more than seventeen years and worked as managing editor and staff writer for The Business Journal and Pacific Publishing Group in Fresno for more than six. She was instrumental in creating a writing center at Fresno High School and at Fresno City College and has been a senior writing consultant for National University’s Online Writing Centers for more than a decade. She received her master’s degree in English Literature from California State University, Fresno and makes her debut in "Griefland." She has recently moved to Olympia, Washington, with her husband, Randy, and their Rhodesian ridgeback, Elsa, and is currently working on a second anthology of essays. Write Nancy at
