MFA Reading tonight at Henry Madden Library 7 p.m.

Join the Master of Fine Arts - MFA program and the Fresno Poets' Association in the Madden Library (room 2206) for a reading by poets Laura Wetherington and Jared Stanley this Thursday, October 18th at 7pm! Admission is free, and the reading is open to the public.

Laura Wetherington’s first book, A Map Predetermined and Chance (Fence 2011), was selected by C.S. Giscombe for the National Poetry Series. She has poems forthcoming in the Minnesota Review, Drunken Boat, and a Telephone Books anthology, The Sonnets: Rewriting Shakespeare. Wetherington co-founded and currently co-edits textsound.org with Anna Vitale. She teaches creative writing in Sierra Nevada College’s low residency MFA program.

Jared Stanley is the author of two books of poetry, The Weeds (Salt, 2012) and Book Made of Forest (Salt, 2009), both of which were written in the San Joaquin Valley. He co-edits Mrs. Maybe, a Journal of Skeptical Occultism, and is a member of the art collective Unmanned Minerals. He lives in Reno, Nevada, where he is a 2012-2014 Research Fellow at the Center for Art + Environment at the Nevada Museum of Art. Stanley teaches at Sierra Nevada College in Incline Village, NV. Recent work has a appeared in Peaches & Bats, Precipitate: The Journal of the New Environmental Imagination, Badlands, and Ping*Pong: The Journal of the Henry Miller Library.
