Quijeremá's Al Son Del Tunduki

Sustaining The Note, The Folk & the Lore, and the Poetry of Pablo Neruda

October 5, 2012



Workshop: 12:00 p.m.-1:30 p.m. in Fresno State’s Wahlberg Recital Hall, Music Building. A journey into the history of instrucments mae of recycled and natural renewable materials in Venezuela, Argentina, Bolivia and Peru in the context of the African Diaspora in Latin America as well as the contribution of Pablo Neruda's poetry recognizing Africa in the Americas.

Concert: 8:00 p.m. in Fresno State’s Concert Hall, Music Building. Enjoy a night of music of the African Diaspora in the Americas, as well as a celebration of the poetry of Chilean Nobel Laureate Poet Pablo Neruda.

The concert is free and open to the public; however, due to the size of the venue, tickets will be handed out at the door on a first-come basis.

Quijeremá is an Oakland, CA based performing arts ensemble dedicated to recreating the concept of mixtura in World Music. Quijeremá uses vintage instruments because modern musical instrument manufacturing involves substantial environmental and cultural impacts.
