Directed by Chris Weitz, this candid social drama tracks the relationship and conflicts between Mexican immigrant gardener Carlos and his teenage son Luis. Carlos struggles to keep his son away from East L. A. gangs and give him opportunities he never had. The screenplay, originally known as The Gardener, was written by Eric Eason based on a story by Roger L. Simon. Star Demian Bichir was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor. 97 min. PG-13
