CineCulture, together with Filmworks, presents: Take This Waltz & Gold Rush

Screenings September 14 & 16: TOWER THEATER, 815 E. OLIVE AVENUE, FRESNO

Take This Waltz: Sept. 14, 5:30 and 8:30 p.m.
The Canadian dramatic comedy stars Michelle Williams, Seth Rogen, and Sarah Silverman. Williams portrays a happily married freelance writer who falls in love with the rickshaw driver who lives across the street. Despite their chemistry, she suppresses her attraction, but the certainty about her domestic life soon shatters. As she steals intense moments with her new lover throughout the steaming, humid Toronto summer, she faces uncharted questions about what her five-year marriage relationship has done to love, sex, and to her image of herself. Directed by Sarah Polley, the Oscar-nominated writer and director of Away from Her. Critic Michael Phillips of the Chicago Tribune says, “Polley wonders the same thing in nearly every scene, no matter who’s in it: Is a comfortable marriage really marriage enough?” Rated R.

Tickets cost $10 general and $8 for students and seniors.

Gold Rush: Sept. 16, 3 p.m.
This complete, fully restored 35mm version of the 1925 masterpiece of silent cinema stars Charlie Chaplin as his iconic character The Tramp. The movie tells the story of a lone prospector’s trip into the Alaskan Klondike in search of gold and riches. The film – moving, hilarious, and full of Chaplin’s trademark invention – has long been unavailable in its original form, following the star’s 1942 abbreviated “sound version” and his dictate that the original only be screened with live orchestral accompaniment. In collaboration with the Chaplin Estate and the Cineteca di Bologna film archives, and after hundreds of hours of detailed repair work, the complete version now features a newly recorded score by American composer and orchestral restorationist Timothy Brock.

Tickets cost $5 general admission.

Tickets for both shows can be purchased by check or cash at the Tower Theatre box office, 815 E. Olive Ave. For more information:
