The campus community is invited to participate in the 2016 Feria de Educación (education fair) at Fresno State from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2016 on the Maple Mall near the Satellite Student Union.

Feria de Educación is a groundbreaking partnership between the California State University Chancellor’s Office, Univision, Fresno State and various community partners that is designed to provide an extraordinary experience for our Spanish-speaking community: educational activities for the entire family are presented and workshops providing essential college information are conducted entirely in Spanish. At Fresno State, which is one of three CSU campuses hosting this event, our feria serves the students and families of Central California.

At our inaugural feria last year, more than 5,000 people came to the campus for a festive, entertaining and very educational event. This year we expect more than 7,500 people who will learn about higher education. They will be welcomed by University President Dr. Joseph I. Castro and several Univision personalities as well as other community dignitaries. Our ROTC will present colors and music student Alejandra Tejeda will perform the National Anthem to start the event.

The event includes many educational activities such as a reading garden with community leaders reading bilingual books to children throughout the day, a visualization booth where youngsters posed in professional clothing of a future career, science booths, leadership activities, campus tours and a wide array of educational workshops. This year we will include workshops to provide assistance with applications for admissions, financial aid and the California Dream Act.

Numerous resource tables from colleges and universities as well as community organizations are available. If you know prospective students or a family who could benefit from this Spanish-speaking event, please encourage them to come. It’s free, just show up!
