Dr. Karna Wong earned her Ph.D. in Urban Planning from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and specializes in affordable housing and community development. Her academic background in planning began at San Francisco State University for a B.A. in Urban Studies and continued at New York University for a Masters in Urban Planning. Karna’s teaching philosophy reflects a strong commitment to engaged scholarship and community-based research. Prior to attending UCLA, she worked with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). While working at HUD, Karna's projects included: funding housing and supportive services for the homeless, developing trainings for government and nonprofit organizations, and producing national housing policy and research reports.
