Join a campus celebration of excellence hosted by Phi Kappa

You are invited to a free Showcase of Excellence at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 19 in the Table Mountain Rancheria Reading Room of the Madden Library, presented by the Fresno State chapter of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.

A wine and cheese social will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the program at 6 p.m.

The program by Phi Kappa Phi members will include:

    • Music for violin and cello by Fresno State faculty Dr. Limor Toren-Immeran and Dr. Thomas Loewenheim
    • A presentation on the revival of the Chuckchansi language by faculty members Dr. Brian Agbayani and Dr. Chris Golston
    • Readings by author Armen Bacon from her latest book, “My Name is Armen: A Life in Column Inches.”

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi – the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines – has recognized the California State University, Fresno chapter of Phi Kappa Phi as a Chapter of Excellence, the highest commendation a chapter can receive from the organization.

This is the third consecutive year that Fresno State has earned the award, given to chapters that excel in recognizing and promoting academic excellence in all fields of higher education and engaging the community of scholars in service to others.

Twenty-nine chapters earned the excellence designation. There are more than 300 Phi Kappa Phi chapters in North America and the Philippines.

Founded in 1897 at the University of Maine, Phi Kappa Phi is the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. The Society has chapters on more than 300 select colleges and universities in North America and the Philippines.
