Postby lragus » Wed Mar 15, 2017 2:20 pm

The Women's Studies Program presents their Annual Faculty Research Presentations.
March 23, 2017, HML 2206 from 12:30-1:30pm

Please join us with Dr. Davorn Sisavath, Assistant Professor, Anthropology discussing "Surplus Populations and Humanitarian Governance: To Serve the Nation"

Dr. Sisavath examines the Mines Advisory Group's all-female unexploded ordnance clearance team in Laos to illuminate the contradictions of humanitarianism where the recruitment of the "poorest and most vulnerable communities" indexes a new form of racialized, classed, and gendered labor within global capitalism as well as rearticulate a historical imperial division of labor.

Light refreshments will be served. If you require special assistance, please call the Women's Studies Program office at 278-2858
