Postby madona » Tue Jul 21, 2015 10:36 am

Dear campus community,

It is with great sadness that we share the news that our colleague Jason Newsome passed away on Friday, July 17, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life service for Jason will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Clovis Hills Community Church, 10590 N. Willow Ave. in Clovis (corner of Willow & International). A reception at the church will follow the service.

Jason served in the U.S. Navy from 1991-95 and graduated summa cum laude from Fresno State in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in Criminology/Law Enforcement. As a student, he worked on campus as an instructional support analyst in Information Technology Services. He became an ITS employee in 2005 and worked as an equipment systems specialist and information technology consultant. In 2011 he joined the University Community office's Web Communications team.

Jason conducted many Web training classes and was known and liked by many on campus. In addition to his willingness to jump in and help colleagues in University Communications and throughout the campus, he is remembered for his kindness and great sense of humor.

Jason was a man of great faith and was devoted to his family. He is survived by his wife, Stacy; sons, Austin, 21, Marcus, 17 and Zachary, 10; and his parents.

Remembrances may be made to Clovis Hills Youth programs, C/O Clovis Hills Community Church, 10590 N. Willow Ave., Clovis, CA 93619. In addition, a Go Fund Me account to assist the family has been established - http://www.gofundme.com/zmcd56s.
