The faculty of the Department of Mass Communication & Journalism would like to invite all members of the university community to the 2013 Roger Tatarian Journalism Symposium Wednesday, April 17. This event, which will be held from 9-11 a.m. in the Satellite Student Union, will focus on an issue of critical importance locally and nationally:

Fernanda Santos, Phoenix bureau chief for the New York Times, will give the keynote address. The title of her presentation is "Minority/Majority: Political Power in Numbers - How the Growth of the Latino population is Paving the Way to Immigration Reform in the United States." Ms. Santos's talk will be followed by a panel discussion about immigration moderated by Juan Esparza Loera, editor of Vida en el Valle, and featuring Dr. Annabella España-Nájera, assistant professor of Chicano & Latin American Studies, and Manuel Cunha Jr., president of the Nisei Farmers League.
