Commitment to accessibility for events, activities produces standards

Four standards have been developed to enhance Fresno State’s commitment to creating an inclusive and accessible campus for all persons including those with disabilities.

The standards underscore the university’s consideration of participants with disabilities at any event sponsored by the University, student organizations, departments or groups, whether held on or off campus and whether members of the public are invited to attend.

Effective immediately, all event and activity planning should include the following:
• Language in publicity materials about accessibility and how individuals requesting an accommodation should contact the event’s organizers.
• Response to requests for accommodations, providing appropriate services and welcoming all constituents.
• Assurance that facilities for events and activities hosted on and off campus will be fully accessible.
• Support to promote a general understanding of disability awareness.

Further information, including Planning an Accessible Event Checklist, Accommodation Statement samples for your promotion materials, and a full guide are available at the Fresno State Accessibility Website The link for the website is located at the bottom of every Fresno State general webpage.
