President's Reflections September 17 – 23, 2012

Most of this past week was spent traveling and culminated at my 50th high school reunion. It was quite an experience!

The Central California Blood Center reported that the first blood drive of the academic year, which concluded last Thursday, Sept. 20, was a great success. More than 740 donors generously gave 582 pints of life-saving blood. This generosity has the potential to help 1,746 patients! Special recognition goes to University Courtyard, University Student Union, University Police Department and Plant Operations. Volunteers from Delta Sigma Pi Fraternity provided assistance with marketing prior to the drive and logistical help at the drive. This academic year we are pleased to have the support of four campus blood drive partners: the Kennel Bookstore, Rue and Gwen Gibson Farm Market, Student Rec Center and University Dining Services. The on-campus blood drives are coordinated by the Jan & Bud Richter Center for Community Engagement and Service-Learning.
