The flags on the Fresno State campus will be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, Sept. 12 in memory of Ms. Dolores Siegel of the Department of Social Work Education, who passed away Aug. 27.

Fresno State President Joseph I. Castro issued the directive that the flags be lowered in honor of Ms. Siegel, a lecturer in the Social Work department since 1999.

During her time at the University, Ms. Siegel taught undergraduate practice classes, master’s level foundation practice classes and Title IV-E Master of Social Work integrative seminars. In addition she was instrumental in the development of the curriculum for the master’s level foundation practice.

Ms. Siegel served as liaison for social work students placed in several Central Valley county child welfare offices as well as a host of other human service settings in the region.

On that same day, Sept. 12, a Celebration of Life service will be held on campus for Ms. Seigel, in North Gym 118 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to Hinds Hospice, 2490 W. Shaw Ave., Fresno, CA, 93711.
