Theatre for Young Audiences
About the program:
Each spring, Fresno State students enroll in a course to bring children's theatre productions to elementary and middle schools throughout the San Joaquin Valley. This touring company of student actors has been a tradition at Fresno State for over 50 years, and have toured more than 40 schools and over 16,000 children in a single season.
The Bremen Town Musicians
About The Play:
Our Theatre for Young Audiences tour next spring will be a wonderful adaptation of the Brothers Grimm story, The Bremen Town Musicians. A donkey, cat, dog, and rooster are kicked out of their home by a crotchety old woman and work together to form a band and tangle with an unwitting group of burglars along the way. With a delightful mix of comedy, singing, live music, and puppetry, our Fresno State students will creatively and collaboratively share the classic story with young people across the Central Valley next spring.
How to bring Theatre for Young Audiences to your school:
Complete the request form and staff will begin discussions and planning to bring the touring group to your school. Click here to request a performance at your school.
The TYA Tour will have a two-day on-campus engagement on April 16th and April 17th. Performance times are 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on both days. Click here to request on on-campus(Fresno State) performance.
(Note: Fresno State Faculty/Staff can also request Theatre for Young Audiences to come to their classroom.)
Through our Adopt-a-School Program donors can make contributions to held reduce costs for the program, and can identify specific schools they wish to donate to help bring Theatre for Young Audiences to their community.
Tuesday and Thursday mornings. March 3 - May 5, 2020
On campus on Thursday and Friday, April 16 & 17, 2020
$300.00 for 1 performance
$200.00 for each additional performance on the same day
(Note: For On-Campus Performances costs are $5.00 single tickets or $3.00/person for groups of 20 or more)
Maximum audience size for a performance is 300 people.
If the maximum number is exceeded the school will be billed for additional performances.
All payments are expected 30 days before the performance.
Nonpayment may result in cancellation of performances.
No refunds or exchanges on tickets purchased for on-campus performance.
Performances last between 50 and 60 minutes and we require no less than 20 minutes to reset the production between performances.
Times requested must be at least one hour and twenty minutes apart.
Access to the performance space 45 minutes prior to the first performance.
An interior performance space at least 14’ x 14’ with audience space for up to 300 people.
Access to: 2 grounded electrical outlets & a private place for costume change.
Free Public Performances:
Saturday, April 18, 2020 at 11:00am & 2pm in the Dennis and Cheryl Woods Theatre (located in Speech Arts Building)
Free Admission. First come, first served. No tickets, No reservations.
