London: A 21st-Century Musical City

Credit in SPRING 2025, trip will be during the 3-week Winter Session - Dec. 27, 2024 – Jan. 14, 2025

Course credit earned will be applied to your Spring 2025 semester at California State University, Fresno. This means that you do not pay additional tuition for this course if you are enrolled as a full-time student in Spring 2024.

Join us for an authentic British experience and earn 3 units of course credit, with two sections of AH 105T offered satisfying Area IC.

Spend three weeks in the heart of London with Profs Anthony Radford and Cari Earnhart. Tour London’s museums and galleries, visit Abbey Rd Studios, and experience Britain's famous music venues and locations. Experience New Year’s Eve in London! Visit Cambridge, Stonehenge, the British Library Music Archive, attend theatrical performances at the National Theatre, and enjoy a long weekend to explore either more of the UK or Europe.

AH 105T Study Abroad Experience: London: A 21st-Century Musical City

This course will be an exploration of London as a musical city at the intersection of world culture and artistic impression. Music profesors Anthony Radford and Cari Earnhart will draw on their experience in areas of music, culture, social justice, language and art to guide students through the sights and sounds of London in 2025. Students will learn about the influence of different cultures on the artistic dynamics of the city today. We will explore music and expression in religious venues, in theatres, in art, in bars, in markets, and even libraries, and cover music from the middle ages up to the present from British culture and the communitites and cultures that have come to London since the Second World War.

There will be two sections of the course. Enrollment is limited to 18 students per section. Must be enrolled in the Spring 2025 semester and in good standing. Permission numbers will be distributed to students on the program. Participating students cannot be on accademic probation and must have a 2.5 or better GPA.
