Scholars in Service
The Scholars in Service (SIS) Program launched in the fall of 2012. This program provides eligible students with an opportunity to enhance their academic study with community service experiences related to their academic major and/or prospective career. In order to be eligible, students must have a 3.5 GPA or above, have an unmet financial aid need of at least $2,400, and demonstrate the learning they gain from a community service experience through a credit-bearing course. If selected for the program, students must complete 90 hours of service per semester with an approved service site and will earn a $1,200 grant each semester. This program is administered by the Jan & Bud Richter Center for Community Engagement and Service-Learning.
A limited number of positions are typically available before the start of the fall semester and sometimes before the start of the spring semester. Visit the Scholar Eligibility page for information about the application process and to read about any open positions.
