United Student Pride Panel Info

Want to Bring the United Student Pride to You?

For several years this organization has conducted panels at the request of proffessors and off-campus professionals. USP offers these informational panels to many kinds of classes, groups, and workshops.

LGBT Panels are structured "safe" ways for students and individuals to ask questions and learn about issues faced by LGBT individuals. We offer first-hand experiences on what it is like to grow up lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender. Members of USP cover a wide range of different sexual orientations and gender identities so we can field a diversity of questions and topics.

Please consider this as a way to enrich your course material, as a multicultural component or supplement to material related to human sexuality and gender identity. Many professions need a greater understanding of these issues, and this is a non-threatening but very enlightening way to begin that process.

Format & Procedure for a LGBT Panel
  • Make a Request
    • Request a panel at least three weeks in advance, using the form below.
    • Please include all of the necessary information in your request.
  • Define your Goals
    • Ask students in your class to submit questions they have related to LGBT issues.
    • Create your own list of issues that you want discussed.
    • Ask the class to bring questions on the day of the panel for a less formal format.
  • Submit your Goals
    • Email your goals (and questions from the class) at least one week prior to the date.
    • Indicate whether you would like the panel to accept questions during the panel.
    • If your class is longer than one hour, please indicate what time you would like the panel.
  • Host the Panel
    • Panelists will define terms, raise misconceptions, and share what it means to them to be LGBT.
    • Panelists will present prepared responses to questions and issues received prior to class.
    • Panelists will welcome questions from the class, if you have requested a less formal format.
    • Your input and questions during the panel are welcome!
