Staff Biographies

Tosha Giuffrida, Learning Center & SupportNet Coordinator
Tosha has worked in the Learning Center since she joined Fresno State in 2002. She has a Masters in Business Administration and over 10 years experience in customer service and in managing business programs in companies such as the world-renowned Four Seasons Resort in Carlsbad and Gottschalks Corporate Office in Fresno. She believes that every student has the potential for success and hopes to connect students with the right services and programs for the most positive college experience. Tosha also is adjunct faculty in the Business department with the new Willow International Center. She enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband, two young children and dog, Rocco!
Karen Lowe
Administrative Support Coordinator

Karen began her career at Fresno State in March 1991. Due to her strong accounting background, she was initially hired by the Accounting Office as an Account Clerk. Looking for more of a challenge that exercised her strong organization and people skills, she later accepted a position within the College of Social Sciences as a Department Secretary. During the next 13 years she worked as an administrative assistant in many of the departments within the social sciences such as Women's Studies, Anthropology and Economics. Recently, Karen left the academic field behind by accepting a position within Student Affairs where her primary goal is to work with the student community in order to increase retention and graduation rates while promoting student success.

Janene Avedisian
SupportNet Adviser
Janene received her B.A. in Liberal Studies from Fresno State in 2007 and completed her graduate degree in Counseling and Student Services: Higher Education in December 2009. She enjoys cooking, traveling, water sports and spending time with her family.
Mai Kou Vang
Academic Support Adviser
Supplemental Instruction (SI) Supervisor
Mai Kou Vang received her B.A. in Liberal Studies from California State University, Fresno in the spring of 2010. She continues her education in the Master's Program in Counseling and Student Services: Higher Education and hopes to become an academic counselor upon graduation in the Spring of 2012. She enjoys playing sports, hanging out with friends, and volunteering in the community.
