Financial aid, in its simplest definition, is financial assistance intended to aid students in reaching their educational goals. This assistance may come in a variety of forms such as grants, scholarships, work-study and loan programs.
The Financial Aid Website is intended to provide you with a general overview of financial aid programs and give you guidance in the application process and the establishment and maintenance of eligibility. This process may appear somewhat overwhelming and confusing at times, but our Financial Aid staff is here to help you.
We are charged with assisting current and prospective students in the process of applying for and receiving financial assistance available from federal, state and institutional sources for their attendance at Fresno State.
Our office acts as a clearinghouse for loans, grants, Work-Study and institutional scholarship programs. In the last academic year our office awarded in excess of $65 million dollars in financial assistance.
Students are responsible for paying their fees
All students interested in being considered for financial assistance during the summer must submit a Summer Interest Form. The Summer Interest Form is available in the Financial Aid Office on April 9, 2012 and the deadline for submitting the form is May 11, 2012. In addition to submitting this form;
(1) file an 11-12 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by April 13, 2012
(2) submit all requested documents to the Financial Aid Office by May 11, 2012;
(3) be admitted to the University in an eligible program;
(4) begin summer attendance prior to June 30, 2012,
(5) be making satisfactory academic progress after spring grades are posted, and
(6) enroll in at least 6 units from the Intersession/Summer Session class schedule.
Funding Options: Limited financial assistance may be available for students enrolled in Intersession/Summer Session. Actual funding is contingent upon demonstrated financial need (as defined by federal regulations), remaining student eligibility, and availability of funds.
NOTE: All summer funds, including Stafford Loans, must be disbursed before June 20, 2012. The first disbursement will be after June 6, 2012 pending the final posting of spring grades. Stafford Loans must be accepted on line in your Student Center no later than June 5, 2012.
Satisfactory Progress: To conform with federal and state student financial aid regulations, the University is required to enforce standards of satisfactory progress. All funds administered by the Financial Aid Office are subject to these standards. Students enrolled in Intersession/Summer Session are expected to successfully complete the number of units for which they are funded.
