Relaxed parking on the weekends; NO parking pass required. Guests can park in lots P1 and P2. Bus parking in Save Mart Center lots.

2023 Vendor Registration Form

We'd like to welcome exhibitors to the resource fair. Colleges, non-profit, and for profit booths are welcome to attend. All vendor booths will be provided the following: one 6ft table, 2 chairs and 2 waters.

*Bring your own tablecloth/canopy (Per University policy, canopies must be fire retardant and weighed down using sandbags, water jugs, bricks, etc. Note: Garden stakes are not permitted.) Exhibitors may start setting up on Saturday, October 14, at 8:30 a.m. Exhibitors must be ready to greet guests at 9:45 a.m. and can start breaking down at 2:30 p.m.

*Please consider donating a gift basket that will be given to attendees during the opportunity drawing. Items can be dropped off to the office of Outreach and Special Programs (University Center 125 at Fresno State) from Oct. 9-12th.

Deadline to submit vendor registration booth: Friday, October 6, 2023 by 5:00 p.m. No refunds beyond this deadline.

STUDENT WORKSHOPS

  • 1A) CAREER PANEL - LAW, MEDICINE, ENGINEERING AND LAW ENFORCEMENT
    • Would you like to be a lawyer, doctor, engineer or police officer? Meet professionals who will encourage you and answer questions about their profession. They will share the challenges and triumphs they had to go through to get to the positions they have.
      • Panelists: Honorable Judge Virna L. Santos, Fresno County Superior Court Justice, Dr. Raul Ayala, Medical Doctor, Enrique Diaz, Google Engineer, and Anthony Martinez, Fresno Police Captain

  • 2A) WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR FIRST YEAR OF COLLEGE
    • Through conversation and discussion at this workshop parents, students and community members will have the opportunity to learn more about the common challenges students face during the transition from high school to college. The workshop will include resources available to students while they are in college.

  • 3A) CALIFORNIA HIGHER EDUCATION PATHWAYS
    • Learn about the different options students have to pursue higher education after high school. In this workshop you will learn the difference between applying, being accepted, and attending a California State University (CSU), University of California (UC), California Community College, and private or independent college. College is possible for you!

  • 4A) ENSEÑAMOS EN EL VALLE CENTRAL: INSPIRING MAESTROS DEL FUTURO
    • Enseñamos en el Valle Central is bringing their teachers, future educadores, and families to share experiences and a space to hear what is happening in our classrooms. Our presenters will share information about the forthcoming Ethnic Studies High School graduation requirement, experiences as a teacher of Ethnic Studies, and the need for future teachers of Ethnic Studies. You will hear from a local Bilingual Educator and their personal experiences as a billingual (Spanish/English) teacher and the need for more bilingual teachers. We will also share information on teacher pathways relevant to first-time freshman, transfer students, paraprofessionals, etc.

  • 5A) PREPARANDO A LAS FAMILIAS PARA EL CAMBIO: PADRES APOYANDO A SUS HIJOS CONTRA LOS PREJUICIOS RACIALES EN LA EDUCACIÓN Y LA VIDA COTIDIANA
    • En este taller hablaremos sobre las diferencias raciales y el racismo. Desde peueños, los niños pueden tener preguntas sobre las diferencias raciales y los padres deben estar preparados para responderlas. Les daremos herramientas de cómo tener esas conversaciones con sus hijos y familias.

    • Conozca las opciones para financiar los costos universitarios. Este taller cubrirá información sobre los diferentes tipos de oporunidades financieras a nivel federal, estatal, institucional y privado. El taller cubrirá los requisitos de elegibilidad y el proceso de solicitud de Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). También se cubrirá información sobre becas y otros tipos de ayuda financiera.

    • Este es un taller bilingüe (inglés/español) destinado a padres. Venga a descubrir cómo se le puede garantizar la admisión a Fresno State a su estudiante de preparatoria. Bulldog Bound proporciona un camino claro y tangible desde le escuela preparatoria hasta Fresno State.   • 8B) WHAT IS FINANCIAL AID?
    • This workshop will cover information about the different types of financial aid opportunities from the federal government, state, post-secondary institutions, and private sources, as well as how to apply using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and FAFSA eligibility requirements. Information about scholarships and other forms of financial aid will also be covered.

  • 9B) CARING FOR ME (SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL LEARNING)
    • This workshop will allow students to dive a little deeper into their emotional well-being, understanding and practice. Participants will learn coping techniques that will help them understand their own emotions and of those around them.

  • 10B) CAL STATE APPLY - A ROAD MAP TO THE CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY (CSU) SYSTEM
    • This workshop aims to provide students with information about California State University (CSU) Fresno, including its unique undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs. Fresno State professionals will be available to answer questions about applying to Fresno State and any other CSU's. Come learn about Fresno State's new Guaranteed Admissions Program, "Bulldog Bound"!

  • 11B) EDUCATION FOR DREAMERS / LA EDUCACIÓN PARA SOÑADORES
    • This bilingual workshop is for students and families who have undocumented children, who want to know more about how to enter college after graduating from high school. Participants will have the opportunity to meet representatives of various Dream Centers located in the Central Valley.
    • Este taller bilingüe es para estudiantes y familias que tienen hijos indocumentados, que quieren saber más sobre cómo sus hijos pueden ingresar a la universidad después de graduarse de la escuela preparatoria (High School). Los particpantes tendrán le oportunidad de conocer representantes de varios Centros de Soñadores (Dream Centers) ubicados en el Valle Central.

  • 12B) WHAT TEST DO I TAKE TO GET INTO COLLEGE: ACT/SAT OR NEITHER?
    • This bilingual workshop discusses what students should know about universities that no longer require tests like ACT, and SAT for admission. It is intended for all families with students interested in college and will give specific attention to mixed immigration status families and undocumented students. This workshop is based on Gates Foundation-funded research project that focuses on California's Central Valley.

TALLERES PARA PADRES- ESPAÑOL

  • 13B) COMO ABOGAR POR SUS HIJOS EN LA ESCUELA Y EN LA VIDA COTIDIANA
    • Los padres son los primeros maestros en la vida de sus hijos y los que tienen la mayor influencia. Sin embargo, a veces les resulta difícil defender o abogar eficazmente por sus hojos y sus familias. En muchas ocasiones asistir a las reuniones escolares resulta complicado por no saber cómo manejar ciertas conversaciones o temas con profesores, consejeros, directores, etc. En esta taller, expertos le darán herramientas sobre cómo abogar eficamente por sus hojos tanto en la escuela como en la vida diaria.

  • 14B) SALUD MENTAL Y BIENESTAR EN LATINAS/OS
    • La salud mental es un tema muy importante, relevante y oportuno en nuestra vida diaria. Al igual que nuestra salud física, la salud mental es fundamental para nuestro bienestar general y la calidad de nuestras vidas. Los problemas de salud mental impactan cómo pensamos, sentimos, actuamos y nos relacionamos con los demás. En esta presentacion, les daremos informacion sobre la salud mental, síntomas y signos de trastornos mentales, stigma, cuándo buscar ayuda professional, qué hacer en una crisis de salud mental y como reconocer señales de suicidio y como lidear con ello y la importancia de la resiliencia en nuestra salud mental.

    • This workshop will help you understand A-G requirements and graduate from High School with confidence. Students will be introduced to the A-G requirements and the importance of successfully meeting these requirements in addition to enrolling in Honors and Advance Placement (AP) courses to become strong college applicants.

  • 16C) INTERESTED IN ENGINEERING? PATHWAYS AND PANEL
    • Would you like to learn what it takes to become an engineer? Come to this workshop to hear about this amazing career and the 16 different types of engineers that exist, including: Agricultural, Electrical, Automobile, Aerospace, Computer, Biomedical, Software, etc. We will have a panel of engineers available to answer questions about their careers.

    • A veces, cuando un estudiante recibe ayuda financiera para seguir su educación superior, no sabe cómo utilizarla y la desperdicia o malgasta. En este taller, estudiantes universitarios compartirán sus buenas y malas experiencias de cómo han manejado la ayuda financiera que han recibido del gobierno federal, estatal, instituciones postsecundarias o fuentes privadas. Daremos consejos a los padres sobre cómo ayudar a sus hijos a tomar buenas decisiones financieras.

  • WHY AND WHEN SHOULD I GET AN FSA ID (FEDERAL STUDENT AID IDENTIFICATION)? POR QUÉ Y CUÁNDO DEBO OBTENER UNA FSA ID (IDENTIFICACIÓN DE AYUDA FEDERAL PARA ESTUDIANTES)
    • If you are a senior in high school this workshop is for you and your parents! If you will be applying for financial aid for the next academic year, you and one of your parents need to create an FSA ID as soon as possible. Fresno State financial aid staff will be ready to help you create yours and one of your parents FSA ID. The FSA ID serves as your legal electronic signature throughout the financial aid process. Without your FSA ID you will not be able to apply for financial aid.
    • Si eres estudiante del último año de high school, ¡este taller es para ti y tus padres! Si vas a solicitar ayuda financiera para el próximo año académico, tú y uno de tus padres deben crear una FSA ID lo antes posible. El personal de ayuda financiera de Fresno State estará listo para ayudarte a crear tu FSA ID y la de uno de tus padres. About Feria

The purpose of Feria de Educación is to empower thousands of Spanish-speaking parents and students by providing them with information and resources to help them succeed in California’s educational system, attend post-secondary education, and attain their professional goals. 

Goals and Objectives

  • Provide a culturally sensitive environment for Spanish-speaking parents with children of all ages.
  • Bridge the cultural gap between Spanish-speaking parents and California’s educational system.
  • Provide information and resources (in Spanish and English) from pre-school to higher education aimed at increasing the college-going culture among the Latino population.
  • Provide a variety of career paths and alternatives in a diverse range of fields.
