Pharmacy
The Health Center Pharmacy maintains a prescription formulary and over-the-counter medications in order to meet the needs of students. The pharmacy will accept valid prescriptions from community physicians as well as members of the Health Center staff. If you have special medication needs, especially for a chronic condition requiring long term availability of a prescription drug, please consult with one of our registered pharmacists to insure that the pharmacy has or can obtain the medication you need.
The pharmacy is a self-funded activity; all funds generated within the pharmacy are used to re-supply the pharmacy. Drugs and medical supplies are sold at cost plus a small handling fee. (Over-the-counter medicines are subject to state sales tax.)
The pharmacy accepts cash, checks and some credit cards.
While the Pharmacy currently cannot bill your insurance plan, an itemized receipt is provided to accompany your insurance request for reimbursement. As the Pharmacy obtains its stock of drugs using state contracts, prices are generally much lower than that charged for a comparable item in a community drug store. Indeed, the cost for many of the most common prescriptions are less than many insurance plan co-pays or deductibles. In addition to the cost savings, most users of the Health Center also find that the convenience of the on-campus pharmacy is highly beneficial.
Pharmacy services are available Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 12:00pm and 1:00pm - 4:45am during the academic year and from 7:00am - 12:00pm and 12:30pm 3:15pm during the summer. To talk with a pharmacist, call (559) 278-6720.
