Application prescreening with a member of our team.
If eligible, complete and submit application with a member of our team (the CalFresh
application is available for you to complete online on your own, but we highly encourage
you to apply with the help of our CalFresh outreach team. This will enable our team
to support you through the application and process.
Once the application is received by the Department of Public Social Services (DPSS)
through an online or paper submission, your 30-day application time frame begin.
You will need to complete an intake interview with a DPSS social worker by phone or
in person. Your county social service department will either call or mail you a date
and time for your intake interview. Let the CalFresh outreach team know if you have
not heard from the county within the first 7 days.
After your interview, you will be required to provide verification documents to your
county office to complete your application. Your application will not be approved
if you do not submit verification documents that meet their requirements. Examples
of verification documents include: copy of ID, proof of address, pay stubs, financial
aid award letter and schedule, veterans-proof of military status such as a DD-214
or military ID,
