Grade Symbols and Grade Points


A–Excellent. Student performance demonstrated the highest level of competence in meeting all stated course objectives and responsibilities. (4 grade points per unit.)

B–Very Good. Student performance demonstrated a high level of competence in meeting all stated course objectives and responsibilities. (3 grade points per unit.)

C–Satisfactory. Student performance demonstrated a satisfactory level of competence of course objectives and responsibilities. (2 grade points per unit.)

D–Unsatisfactory. Student performance was unsatisfactory in meeting basic course objectives and responsibilities. (1 grade point per unit.)

F–Failure. Failed to meet course objectives and requirements for credit toward a degree. (0 grade points per unit.)

WU–Withdrawal Unauthorized. Student did not complete course requirements and did not properly withdraw from the course. (0 grade points per unit.)

W–Withdrawal after the fourth week of instruction. (Not used in grade point calculation.) Undergraduate students may withdraw from no more than 18 semester units during their entire undergraduate career.

I–Incomplete. Semester requirements at least two-thirds complete with work of passing grade. (Not used in grade point calculation.)

IC–Incomplete Charged. Student has not completed the required course work within the allowed time limit. (0 grade points per unit.)

RD–Report delayed. Grade must be cleared before a degree is awarded. (Not used in grade point calculation.)

RP–Report in Progress. Continuing work in progress. (No units allowed and not included in grade point calculation until grade is assigned.)

AU–Audit. Student's status as auditor and does not earn degree credit.
