Free Application for Federal Student Aid

Starting October 1st through the March 2nd Cal Grant deadline, students and families can attend FREE Cash for College workshops across California to receive help completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act (CADAA) and Chafee for Foster Youth applications. Cash4College workshop dates hosted by Central Valley Cal-SOAP this 17-18 academic year will be announced through our website and cash4college website in September.

  • The online FAFSA application opens on October 1st.
  • To start a new FAFSA or to log in, visit fafsa.gov.
  • To create a FSA ID, visit fsaid.ed.gov.
  • To learn more about the different types of federal student aid, visit studentaid.ed.gov. 
  • To find a Free Cash4College workshop near you, visit cash4college.csac.ca.gov.
  • Make sure you submit your FAFSA application before the march 2nd deadline!

California Dream Act Application

The California Dream Act Application allows students enrolled in eligible California colleges, universities, and career education programs to apply for state financial aid.

Note: This application is NOT related to the federal Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA).

California Student Aid Commission

The California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) is responsible for administering financial aid programs for students attending public and private universities, colleges, and vocational schools in California. The Cal-SOAP program is administered by CSAC with individual projects applying each year for continued state funding.
