Fall 2015 Admissions
First Time Freshman: The application period for First Time Freshmen is from October 1, 2014 to November 30, 2014. No late applications will be accepted.
Upper Division Transfer Students: The application period for new Upper Division Transfer students is from October 1, 2014 to November 30, 2014. No late applications will be accepted.
Lower Division Transfer Students: We are not accepting applications for Fall 2015.
Returning Students : Final Deadline is February 1, 2015.
Second Bachelor's Degree Applicants: We are not accepting applications for fall 2015 (except Nursing).
Postbaccalaureate Degree or Credential Applicants: Final Deadline is April 1, 2015.
California State University, Fresno is an impacted campus at the freshman level and will use supplemental admissions criteria to admit first-time freshmen for the fall 2015 semester. All first-time freshman applicants must complete and submit the CSU Application for Admission during the priority filing period (October 1 to November 30, 2014) to be considered for admission.
Applicants from the Fresno State local area will be admitted based on CSU systemwide eligibility criteria. SAT or ACT scores are required for all students with a grade point average below a 3.00. SAT or ACT scores are recommended for all students with grade point average of 3.00 or higher. Test scores must be submitted by January 15, 2015. Freshman applicants from schools outside of the Fresno State local area who are CSU eligible will be rank ordered by eligibility index and admission offers will be made in descending order of eligibility until the freshman class is full. SAT or ACT scores are required for all applicants from schools outside the local area. Test scores must be submitted by January 15, 2015.
A small percentage of the freshman class may be admitted based on eligibility index and additional characteristics including first generation college status, socioeconomic factors, skills or talents that align with or contribute to special university programs, and evidence of overcoming educational obstacles
All freshman applicants must complete the required subject matter requirements with grades of C or better by the date of high school graduation. Course requirements may not be completed during the summer after high school graduation.
The campus is impacted at the transfer level and will implement supplementary screening criteria for admission.
The application period for upper division transfers begins on October 1, 2014 and will close on November 30, 2014.
Based on space availability, transfer applicants with the majority of their transferable units coming from the Local Area will be accommodated first. Local Area community colleges are:
- College of the Sequoias
- Fresno City College
- Merced College
- Modesto Junior College
- Reedley College
- West Hills Community College
- West Hills College-Lemoore.
Transfer applicants with the majority of their transferable units from other colleges or universities will be considered on a space available basis. A minimum 2.75 gpa or higher is recommended. Transfer applicants must satisfy admission requirements by the end of the spring 2015 semester/quarter. Summer 2015 courses will not be considered for admission.
Admission Requirements (Local Area):
Student will qualify for admission if they have completed 60 or more transferable semester units and:
- have a minimum gpa of 2.00 or higher in all transferable college units attempted; and
- are in good standing at the last college or university attended; and
- will have completed at least 30 semester units (45 quarter units) with grades of C or better in courses equivalent to general education requirements, including all of the general education requirements in communication in the English language (at least nine units in English composition, oral communication, and critical thinking), and at least one course of at least 3 semester units (4 quarter units) in college level mathematics.
Returning Fresno State students will be accommodated on a space available basis. Priority will be given to upper-division returning transfers who have completed General Education-Breadth requirements in Area A and B4 (courses in English composition, oral communication, critical thinking and mathematics) . Lower-division returning applicants are encouraged to complete lower-division GE and major requirements. All transfer coursework used to support admission must be completed by the end of spring 2015.
The application period for returning students begins on October 1, 2014 and will close on February 1, 2015.
