IMPACTION WEB COMMENTS FROM COMMUNITY

2/1/2016 19:18:20 Community Member I understand the need to include Clovis and Porterville.  Why isn't Harnell College feeding into Monterey Bay and Hancock into Channel Island? What is the impact of adding these colleges to CSU Fresno and the freshman populations?
We have established historical relationships with both Hartnell Community College and Allan Hancock College.  Although CSU Monterey Bay and CSU Channel Islands are located within the local regions of these two institutions, their size and program offerings are limited.   We continue to serve and attract students interested in programs offered at Fresno State such as, Nursing, Agriculture, and Engineering.  We are committed to serving our local populations and will continue to give preference to our local regional students.
2/2/2016 10:28:02 Faculty/Staff I would love to see Allan Hancock College be considered a sister school to Fresno.
Thank you for expressing your support in our impaction modification plan.
2/2/2016 11:27:19 Faculty/Staff As the Transfer Counselor/Coordinator at Allan Hancock College, I fully support the idea to make Allan Hancock College a part of the local transfer area. Our students are put at a huge disadvantage being that our nearest CSU campus is Cal Poly, SLO. As many know, the Cal Poly campus does not serve any particular local area and serves the state of California equally. We do not have a true local school for our area. We do have many students who are interested in Fresno State and do attend. It has become more and more difficult for our students to gain acceptance with the changing impaction across the state. Fresno State is a great option for our students who share may of the same demographic qualities that students in the Fresno area have. This would be wonderful news for our students who are faced with even harder times when it comes to transfer. Thank you for your consideration. Feel free to contact me at 805-922-6966 ext. 3549.

2/2/2016 15:53:06 Faculty/Staff I am a counselor at Allan  Hancock College in Santa Maria.  I would like to submit feedback encouraging Fresno State adding us as one of their local community colleges.  Currently, our closest CSU is Cal Poly, SLO, but because they are a Polytectic College, they don't really give our students much of an advantage over others.  So, in essense our students have been left in the lurch because they do not have a local CSU and alot of our students do not have the GPA for UC.  Also we're finding that our students have been prayed on by private colleges whose intent is to make money because our students feel "stuck" with no where to go.  Our students love Fresno State.  Whenever we visit the campus, we can never have enough bus seat space because they look at your diverse student population and they see themselves.  So, thank you again for your consideration of adding Allan Hancock College to your local service colleges.  We truly appreciate your support to our students:).  Thank you.

2/3/2016 13:06:30 Faculty/Staff Many of our students from Allan Hancock College would like to choose Fresno State as a viable option for transfer.  It has been this way for many, many years.  We have several counselors on our staff that are Bulldog alumni!  I hope you will add us to your "local area" school list!

2/4/2016 8:45:35 Faculty/Staff I am in support of Allan Hancock College as a "local area" transfer school for Fresno State.

2/4/2016 10:40:21 Faculty/Staff Please include Allan Hancock College as a local school in your 2017-18 admission cycle. This would greatly benefit our students.

16/2016 16:24:20 Community Member I would love to see Fresno State include Allan Hancock College as the 'local area'. Hancock has an LVN/RN (ADN) program yet there are no local options for students to transfer in the Nursing major as both Cal Poly-SLO and UCSB do not offer a Nursing major. By including Hancock in the 'local area' Hancock students would have a viable choice to pursue the BSN.

2/18/2016 16:23:34 Faculty/Staff I am a counselor and the articulation officer at Hartnell Community College.  For many years, Hartnell has had a great collaboration with CSU Fresno and many of our students transfer to CSU, Fresno because of the majors the institution offers.  As Hartnell College's articulation officer, I have worked closely with Fresno State to retain our articulation agreements listed on ASSIST.  Most recently I contacted the University Construction Management discipline to engage in discussions of standarizing Hartnell's courses and building a transfer pathway to CSU, Fresno. I highly encourage the university to continue our collaboration and include Hartnell in the "local area" transfer schools.
Any additional information, I can provide please contact me.

2/18/2016 17:35:39 Faculty/Staff As a Dean of Student Affairs, Student Success at Hartnell College in Salinas, CA I am aware Fresno State is a major transfer university for students on the Central Coast of California.  Many of our students are Agriculture and Engineering majors, therefore, the programs at Fresno State are very attractive to the students in our region.  The proposed impaction changes for 2017-2018 are extremely well received by education professionals on the Central Coast.  Thank you for your work and commitment to students, particularly students from first-generation, low-income and migrant backgrounds.
