Academic Probation and Disqualification
As an undergraduate student, you must maintain a 2.00 grade point average (GPA) to remain in academic “Good Standing”. To determine your academic standing, both your TOTAL (cumulative) GPA (all coursework attempted at all colleges) and your CAMPUS GPA (all coursework taken at Fresno State) are taken into account. If either campus or total (cumulative) GPA falls below a 2.00, you will be subject to either “Academic Probation” or “Academic Disqualification” (see chart below). If a student is currently on any of the below academic standings and does not meet their contract, they will be placed on Academic Disqualification and dismissed from the University.
Probation: An undergraduate student whose campus or total (cumulative) GPA is less than a 2.00, but above the disqualification range. Students are required to maintain a GPA above the disqualification range in order to continue into the next semester.
Probation: Disqualification Range: An undergraduate student whose campus or total (cumulative) GPA is less than a 2.00 and in the disqualification range. Students are required to increase their GPA above the disqualification range in order to continue into the next semester.
Readmitted on Probation: An undergraduate student who has been academically disqualified from the university, reapplied and been accepted as a readmitted student at Fresno State. Students are required to maintain a 2.50 or higher GPA each term in order to continue into the next semester. The student will remain on Readmitted on Probation standing until their GPA is not in the disqualification range, and rolled over to Probation or Good Standing.
An undergraduate student will be placed on disqualification if either total (cumulative) or campus GPA falls below the levels on the above chart. A student who is disenrolled from the University due to Academic Disqualification must reapply to the University. A student must be placed in one of the above academic standings prior to disqualification. See Admissions for criteria.

Undergraduate students placed on academic disqualification and dismissed at the end of the semester are encouraged to contact the University Advising Center in Joyal Administration Building, room 224 or call (559) 278-1787 regarding the Steps for Readmission.
Graduate students placed on academic disqualification at the end of the semester should contact the Division of Graduate Studies in the Thomas Administration Building, room 132 or call (559) 278-2448.
