Possible Courses for First-Semester Freshmen

A first-time freshman may enroll in any of the following courses with no prerequisites:

GE Area Courses
GE-A1 Oral Communication: Communication 3, 7, 8
GE-A2 Written Communication: English 5A (5B the following semester satisfies GE-A2); or English 10
GE-A3 Critical Thinking
GE-B4 Quantitative Reasoning
GE-B2 Life Sciences
GE-C1 Arts
GE-E Lifelong Understanding & Self-Development

Additional courses that generally have no prerequisites:

  • Community Service 1, Community Service 101
  • Introductory major courses

If you have completed AP English Composition or Literature with a score of 3, 4 or 5, you may also take the following:

GE Area Courses
GE-C2 Humanities
GE-D1 American History: History 11 or 12
GE-D2 American Government: Political Science 2
GE-D3 Social Science

If you have completed AP Calculus AB or Calculus BC with a score of 3, 4 or 5, you may also take the following:

GE Area Courses
GE-B1 Physical Sciences
