EXCESS UNIT REQUESTS

How can a student register for more than 16 units?

Only students in the exception groups or categories below are eligible to enroll in more than 16 units.

The following criteria must also apply:

To enroll in 19 units, an undergraduate student must have an overall grade point average of 2.5.

For 20 to 22 units, a student must have an overall grade point average of 3.0.

An absolute limit of 22 units (excluding credit by examination units) is enforced which may be waived only with the approval of the dean of the college/school of the student's major.

Exception Groups:

  • Graduating Seniors (Completed 95 or more units)
  • ROTC Programs
  • Four-year Guarantee Degree Program
  • Honors Program Students
  • High-Unit Majors: Engineering (Civil, Computer, Electrical, Geomatics, Mechanical) & B.S. Nursing (not Pre-Nursing)
