Spring 2020 Graduates: Congratulations!

People who supported me on my journey: I want to thank my family for the support throughout my years attending Fresno State, could have not done it without them. Los quiero mucho! 

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: I hope to be of service leadership to the people of Fresno with the goal of helping individuals and communities of most need reach their full potentials.

What I enjoyed most about my time at Fresno State: I enjoyed learning not only about academics, but more about myself. I learned that I belong in academic spaces like CSU Fresno, which is very diverse.

People who supported me on my journey: My mom and dad: Mariana and Jose Luis Alvarez; My soulmate: Augustine Rodriguez; My teacup chihuahua: Penny.

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: I will be taking a gap year to volunteer and work. Then I plan on getting my masters in social work to then work with victims of trauma.

What I enjoyed most about my time at Fresno State: I loved learning in all of my sociology classes. You get to see a lot of different perspectives and learn new ideas. I loved the amount of diversity Fresno State has.

People who supported me on my journey: Efrain Botello, Leticia Cisneros, Luis Botello, Julissa Botello.

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: If everything goes well, I hope to attend grad school during the fall of 2020. 

What I enjoyed most about my time at Fresno State: What I enjoyed the most about attending Fresno State was having access to multiple resources (health center, writing center, tutors, library, etc).

People who supported me on my journey: Juan & Graciela Cardenas -parents; Andrew & Christian Cardenas - brothers; Adam Delgadillo - husband; Matthew Delgadillo - son.

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: I hope to continue my career and finish the masters program to become a school counselor one day. As well as enjoy the time with my son and family.

People who supported me on my journey:  My parents; Alfredo and Imelda Guzman. My siblings; Maggie, Xochitl and Claudia. My boyfriend; Carlos Hidalgo.

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: I hope to continue my education and return to Fresno State to receive my Masters in Social Work.

What I enjoyed most about my time at Fresno State: My favorite part about my college experience at Fresno State is meeting new people!

People who supported me on my journey: I would like to thank my parents, Gerardo and Alma Cisneros for always supporting me.

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: I hope to pursue a master's in counseling.

What I enjoyed most about my time at Fresno State: I enjoyed learning and being around the professors. Never again will I be around so many great thinkers. Especially in the sociology department.

People who supported me on my journey: Thank you Mom and Dad for always supporting me through this journey.

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: I hope my career in the Air Force is filled with service for America and progress for personal development.

What I enjoyed most about my time at Fresno State: I loved classes with Dr. Jones and his mentorship in tough times.

People who supported me on my journey: Lucia Jimenez is my mother, Victoria Alonzo is my girlfriend, Citlalli Cruz is my sister, Sheryl Cruz is my sister.

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: I hope to accomplish success in the work field.

What I enjoyed most about my time at Fresno State: The art building.

People who supported me on my journey: Thank you, thank you, thank you, to my wonderful and supportive parents, siblings, and boyfriend for all of the emotional and financial support throughout this journey.

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: Upon graduating, I hope to make a positive change in society through engaging in advocacy and community involvement.

People who supported me on my journey: I would like to thank my parents because they supported and encouraged me on my journey to graduation.

What I enjoyed most about my time at Fresno State: I really enjoyed meeting new people and making friends during my time at Fresno State.

People who supported me on my journey: I would like to thank God and my beautiful family for my accomplishments. Starting with my parents who have always supported me in whatever aspect, my siblings who I love, and my boyfriend, Angel whose pushed me to strive for the best in whatever occasion. Without any of them and God, I would not be in this position today.

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: 

After graduation I will be pursuing my Master's Degree in the Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling Program at Fresno State! I envision myself as a strong Chicana healing those with trauma while amplifying their voices. And empowering those who are not heard as an advocate.

What I enjoyed most about my time at Fresno State: The department of Sociology and Chicano Studies is what I loved most at Fresno State. The academia, professors, and classmates helped empower me as an individual. Here I learned the true meaning of society and life. I would like to thank all the professors who made me feel at home and accepted. I truly enjoyed every moment of my academic career at Fresno State.

People who supported me on my journey: My Fiancé, Josh Harris! My mom, Tawnya Hughes. All of siblings. My grandparents. Brenda and Maddie! All my friends and family!

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: Get my Masters Degree in Marriage Family Therapy or Social Work.

People who supported me on my journey: My parents, my sister Sandra, my best friend Vivian, and my boyfriend Omar.

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: I hope I get to travel to celebrate getting my degree and finishing college.

What I enjoyed most about my time at Fresno State: All the friendships I have made in my 5 years of being at state.

People who supported me on my journey: Thank you to Matthew Hernandez, my future hubby, for being by my side. Also, a special thank you to David J. Hernandez, my precious son, you are my pride and joy.

People who supported me on my journey: Para mis padres, Luciana y Pedro gracias por su amor infinito y su apollo para que cumpla mis sueños. To my siblings, Jose Angel, Margarita and Lupita thank you for always being there to listen my vents about school stress and support. To my nieces Ashley and Regina, the loves of my life. To my best-friend Ana Cristina, thank you for the unconditional friendship. Finally, to my younger self, your did it! First generation in my family. Class of 2020.

People who supported me on my journey: I would like to thank my parents Francisco Hidalgo Rincon and Lorena Herrera Navarro as they supported and encouraged me to pursue higher education. They came to this country to give my siblings and me the opportunities they didn't have, and now I can say their hard work and dedication paid off. I also want to thank the friends I made during this journey, as they have made a bigger impact on my life than they know, as they made my college experience very memorable. Los quiero mucho a todos! We did it!

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: My goal is to serve the community. I want to help students who come from a minority background achieve their educational goals. To do that I will need to pursue a master’s degree. In a few years, I will apply for the Master’s program in counseling or education administration and leadership.

What I enjoyed most about my time at Fresno State: I enjoyed the time I spent at Fresno State, as it exposed me to new experiences and opportunities. Fresno State helped me grow as a professional and individual. I met some of the greatest people here, as in professors and friends. They have all impacted my life and I can't thank them enough.

People who supported me on my journey: Pedro & Cira Sandoval - grandparents; Mariana Gutierrez- Mom; Samantha Huerta- Sister; Abel Abarca- boyfriend; Pedro C Sandoval- uncle; Lupe & Daniel Madrigal- Aunt & uncle; Jasmine- my furbaby (cat).

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: I hope to attend the Master's program at Fresno state for Marriage, child and family counseling, and become a licensed counselor.

What I enjoyed most about my time at Fresno State: I really enjoyed all the life lessons I learned through the stories and lectures from my professors. I also enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends, they truly helped keep me sane when times got rough.

People who supported me on my journey: I am beyond grateful for the support from all my friends and family members throughout my college career. Especially my mom and dad who inspire me daily.

What I enjoyed most about my time at Fresno State: I will charish my memories from Fresno State forever.

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: I hope to continue my studies in sociology, and advocate for those in my community that cannot advocate for themselves. I hope to promote social change, and to change perspectives of many that tend to separate one another.

What I enjoyed most about my time at Fresno State: I enjoyed being surround by the minds of my peers and professors.

People who supported me on my journey: Gonzalo and Adrianna Nava (my parents), Nadia and Sophia Nava (my sisters), Pedro Nava (my brother), Pedro & Enriqueta Nava and Hermelinda Cardenas (my grandparents), and Cynthia Topete (my cousin).

What I enjoyed most about my time at Fresno State: The sociology department was the best part of my time at Fresno State.

People who supported me on my journey: Ines Oceguera, my amazing mother; Joanna Oseguera, my sister and best friend; Felipe Aguilar, my loving boyfriend.

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: I hope to reach all my goals, and continue deepening my knowledge and capabilities.

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: A life that involves a career in doing what I love, helping children.

What I enjoyed most about my time at Fresno State: Being able to stay close to my family, while also experiencing college on my own.

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: Move out of Fresno, and find a career that best suits me.

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: I want to become an academic counselor for K-12.

What I enjoyed most about my time at Fresno State: I loved getting involved on campus and building relationships!

People who supported me on my journey: Gloria R Lopez: Mom, I love you so much! Te quiero con todo mi corazon! I wouldn't have accomplished this milestone without you. You always believed in me and you are my motivation; Sixtos Lopez: Dad, I love you! Gracias Papá! For all the support; Danny and Lali: Brother and Sister, I love you guys so much! Thank you for everything you have done through this journey. I want to especially thank you Lali. For all the small miracles you have done to get me where I am. I will forever hold those memories in my heart; Luke: Baby nephew, Luke although you are only a few months old I love you so much!

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: What I hope to accomplish after graduation is pay off my student loans! Most importantly get into a UC to get my Master's in Sociology!

What I enjoyed most about my time at Fresno State: While at Fresno State, i enjoyed the friendships that were created. Most importantly the Sociology professors that inspired me to believe social change is possible. You truly are the best professors because you always want to see students succeed and are passionate about your work.

People who supported me on my journey: Lariss Cazares, Mother AKA my backbone.

What I enjoyed most about my time at Fresno State: I enjoyed how approachable professors were, and how the diversity of the campus allowed me to feel comfortable.

People who supported me on my journey: I am grateful for the support from my mom and dad, Denise and Larry Rohm, my partner, Elfego Trujillo, my friends from the Sociology Club, HUGSS, and my classes, and all of my amazing professors.

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: I intend to serve our community by leading in community benefit organizations.

What I enjoyed most about my time at Fresno State:I enjoyed leading in the Sociology Club, working for HUGSS, and going on the study abroad trip to Finland.

People who supported me on my journey: My mom - Rosa Serrano Arredondo; My significant other - David Cereceres.

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: I hope to find a job and save up money to pursue my Masters in a year or two.

What I enjoyed most about my time at Fresno State: I enjoyed my teachers, they were all very inspirational and had a passion for teaching.

People who supported me on my journey: My mom - Cheng Saelee; my dad - Nai Saelee; my children - Chassity and Caleb; my sisters - Kae, Farm, and Anny; my brothers - Ton and Acho; my boyfriend - Pheng; my friends - Fam, Jaymee, Janett, Amyla.

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: After graduation, I am looking forward to grad school to obtain my Master's Degree.

People who supported me on my journey: My Mom - Maria Sanchez; My Dad - Pabline Sanchez; My Brother - Isac Sanchez; My Best Friend- Jose Reyes; All my family who never let me give up.

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: Finish my Masters program to become a Board Certified Behavior Analysts to work with amazing children and their families every day!

What I enjoyed most about my time at Fresno State: I enjoyed watching diversity take no negative affect to the learning of anyone.

People who supported me on my journey: My biggest support system is my family and without them and their constant support and encouragement I wouldn’t be able to say I am the first in my family to receive a 4 year college degree. I would like to thank my mother Terra Scalise, grandmother Angie Cantu, brother Niko Scalise, and sister Madison Scalise and I hope I make you all proud.

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: I am currently graduating with a Sociology degree and am currently applying to Nursing Programs so I can become a Neonatal Nurse.

What I enjoyed most about my time at Fresno State: I enjoyed all the wonderful memories I will forever cherish with the lasting friendships Fresno State has given me.

People who supported me on my journey: Elizabeth Sanchez-Rodriguez: Mother; Gelasio Sanchez: Father; Alfonso Sanchez-Rodriguez: Brother; Ximena Hidalgo: Friend; Dr. Myers: Professor.

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: I would like to find a full-time position in a local or state agency to help my community. My educational goal is to pursue a Masters in either Public Policy or Public Administration.

People who supported me on my journey: A huge thank you to my boyfriend, who supported me throughout my journey at Fresno State and has stepped up tremendously in taking care of our son so I can study and go to class.

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: Buy a house.

What I enjoyed most about my time at Fresno State: The friendships I’ve made.

People who supported me on my journey: I would like to thank my mom, dad, and sisters for always loving and supporting me! Thank you to Dr. Crowell, Dr. Helsel, Dr. Myers, and Dr. Randles for being amazing human beings and faculty.

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: I am entering the Student Affairs and College Counseling Master's Program in Fall 2020 and hope to work on campus within a student support services program like EOP or SupportNET. After that, I hope to enter my career as an academic advisor.

What I enjoyed most about my time at Fresno State: I enjoyed meeting my best friend, Angelica, and discovering how resilient I can be when life gets hard. I am so happy to have had inspiring, wonderful professors who sincerely care about their students.

People who supported me on my journey: I would like to give a special recognition to my mom because without all the sacrifices she made I wouldn't be where I am today. I would also like to recognize all my family and friends that have helped motivate and push me to keep going and keep striving for my dreams.

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: My goals after graduation are to get into a masters program and start my teaching career.

What I enjoyed most about my time at Fresno State: I enjoyed all the amazingly helpful professors, those who made sure that each of their students were doing well and wanted them to succeed.

People who supported me on my journey: I would like to thank my family and close friends who supported and encouraged me during my college journey. I will always be appreciative of my grandparents, Lucy and Robert Rodriguez, who motivated me since kindergarten to attend college and pursue a degree. Thanks to their guidance and support, I will be the first person in my family to graduate from college with a B.A.

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: I hope to attend graduate school to pursue my master's.

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: Getting my MA in International Affairs from the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin.

What I enjoyed most about my time at Fresno State: Studying abroad!

People who supported me on my journey: I would like to recognize my son William who for him I did not give up and finished my degree. My uncle Felix, my aunt Maribella, my best friend Alejandra and my family Roberto, Lupita, Erica, Claudia, Armando, and Beto who were all there for me. Dr. Jendian who was understanding and guided me through the road to graduation.

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: I hope to enter a masters program in social work and continue helping families in need and serving my community.

What I enjoyed most about my time at Fresno State: I enjoyed meeting new people, making friends, and learning about our society, culture, and diversity.

People who supported me on my journey: I would like to recognize my entire family, god, and friends.

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: I hope to help veterans get the counseling they would need.

What I enjoyed most about my time at Fresno State: Meeting all the new people in my life.

What I hope to accomplish after graduation: I will be attending the masters program in counseling and becoming one step closer to being a child psychologist.
