Locating job opportunities in the nonprofit sector has never been easier.  The Internet provides an opportunity for job seekers to connect with potential employers.  Most organizations list job opening on their own web sites and a number of sites have been developed which specialize in nonprofit jobs.  In addition, many of the major Internet job sites have separate sections dealing with employment in the social sector.  The sites listed in this publication are, for the most part, aimed at the managerial or professional level.

Most of the job sites have searchable databases, which allow you to find jobs by location, type of position, and even by organizational mission.  In almost all cases, you can search the databases and even sign up for email notifications of new opportunities free.  Some will also allow you to post your resume for free, other require a small fee.  You may wish to concentrate on sites which contain the largest number of openings or opportunities in your preferred geographical area.  Finally, many of the sites have suggestions about how to write a resume.  You should review these, especially when submitted resumes electronically.

LOCAL SOURCES (California State University, Fresno) -   Jobs listed in collaboration with college career centers.  Click on “search jobs and internships,” click on the state of California and then go to California State University-Fresno.  Use the word valley for the password.  Select “jobs and internships.” Under “job category” select “Community social service & nonprofit” and a desired location.  A similar process can be used to search the nationwide site (e.g. use job category of “Nonprofit”).  You will need to register with the site to gain access to the job listings.
