Victim Services Certificate

The Victim Services Certificate is cooperatively sponsored by the Department of Criminology, the School of Education and Human Development, and the Women's Studies Program at Fresno State. The primary goal of the 12-unit (180 hour) program is to provide the knowledge, foundation and skills needed for work with crime victims.

Victim Services Certificate: Course Requirements

A minimum of twelve (12) units is required with three (3) units selected from each of the four emphasis areas (1) Theory; (2) Victim Issues; (3) Victim Services; and (4) Victim Advocacy.  Those who complete all four required courses earn the Victim Services Certificate.

Victim Services Certificate (Summer Institute)

The Victim Services Summer Institute at Fresno State was founded in 1989 and has been offering a concentrated program of study conducted fully online each summer.

Summer Institute Requirements

The Summer Institute is open to both Fresno State students and professionals from the field. To enroll in the Summer Institute contact the Division of Continuing and Global Education office (ED 130) at 559-278-0333.

There is a 12-unit requirement for the Victim Services Certificate. Three units must be selected from each of the four emphasis areas (1) Theory, (2) Victim Issues, (3) Victim Services and (4) Victim Advocacy. See the course requirements table above.

Summer Institute Registration

Pick up a registration form at the Division of Continuing & Global Education office (ED 130, 5005 N. Maple Ave., M/S ED76, Fresno, CA 93740) or download the registration form Undergraduate or Masters level.

Summer Institute Fees

$870 for each 3-unit summer intersession course.

$945 for each 3-unit summer session course. (Books are purchased separately at the (Kennel Bookstore)
